Our Approach to Learning

Learning leadership through real experiences

Student Leadership at SILC Summer Camps

SILC Academy summer camps are designed for students who want an experience that feels exciting, active, and meaningful. Every programme is built around our in-house curriculum, developed over many years with input from experienced educators and in collaboration with leading schools. It is the reason our camps feel so well structured while still being full of energy, adventure, and discovery.

Across Switzerland and France, students develop the kind of skills that matter in real life, not through lectures, but through doing. From outdoor challenges and team missions to real-world scenarios and shared responsibility, learning happens naturally when students are fully involved.

Learning that happens in the moment

At SILC, leadership develops through action. Students set goals, make decisions, manage their time, communicate under pressure, and work closely with others. They learn how to contribute to a group, step up when needed, and support teammates through challenges. These are the everyday leadership skills students build with us, and they grow quickly when practised in dynamic environments.

Alongside this, students also develop creativity and entrepreneurial thinking. They are encouraged to generate ideas, solve problems, take initiative, and turn concepts into action. This is where our 21st century skills focus comes to life — combining strong leadership foundations with creativity and entrepreneurship, in a way that feels engaging and relevant.

About SILC Academy

The SILC learning outcomes

Throughout every SILC summer camp, learning outcomes are embedded into daily life and activities. Students practise and develop skills naturally through challenges, teamwork, and real-world situations.

Goals

Students set clear personal and group goals, learn how to plan effectively, and stay focused on what they want to achieve.

Connect

Students build strong relationships by listening, understanding different perspectives, and resolving challenges constructively.

Create

Students explore creativity by generating ideas, thinking differently, and approaching challenges with imagination and curiosity.

Choices

Students challenge themselves, set higher standards, and review progress, understanding how decisions shape outcomes.

Communicate

Students express ideas clearly and confidently, adapting their communication to different situations and audiences.

Entrepreneurship

Students develop initiative and entrepreneurial mindset by turning ideas into action, solving problems, and taking ownership of projects.

Optimise

Students understand how choices affect performance and wellbeing, and learn how to improve through reflection and prioritisation.

Collaborate

Students work effectively in teams, recognise individual strengths, and create momentum through cooperation and shared responsibility.

Contribute

Students take responsibility within their community, support others, and understand the impact of positive leadership.

Real-world learning beyond the summer

SILC camps are designed to feel unforgettable, but also to leave students with something lasting. Confidence grows when students try something new. Resilience builds when they face challenges and keep going. Communication improves when they learn to express themselves clearly and work through differences. Creativity develops when they are encouraged to think differently and take initiative.

By the end of camp, students return home with stronger skills, new friendships, and the kind of growth that is difficult to replicate in a classroom alone — because it has been lived, not simply taught.
