Institut Monte Rosa Welcomes a New Era
A Historic Campus Meets a Fresh Vision
A new and exciting chapter is beginning at Institut Monte Rosa. With Eastwood Montreux International School taking over the campus, this historic setting enters a renewed phase, one that combines tradition with a fresh educational vision. And this summer, the campus will welcome a new international camp experience: the Montreux Summer Leadership Academy, hosted by SILC Academy.
Institut Monte Rosa: a campus with history and potential
Institut Monte Rosa has long been associated with learning in an inspiring environment. Set in the heart of Montreux, it offers the kind of setting that naturally encourages curiosity, connection, and personal growth, qualities that are especially powerful in a summer program where students learn through experience, not just instruction.
Founded in 1874, Institut Monte Rosa is recognised as one of the oldest international boarding schools in Switzerland, and has been part of the Montreux Riviera’s educational story for over a century. Housed in a 19th-century lakeside mansion in Territet-Montreux on the shores of Lake Geneva, the campus is known for its sweeping views across the water toward the Alps—an atmosphere that has long supported focused study and life away from distractions. In the 1960s the school adopted the name Institut Monte Rosa, and it became co-educational in 1964—a shift that reflected changing ideas about international education in Switzerland.
Eastwood Montreux takes over: a renewed direction
With Eastwood International School in Montreux assuming leadership of the campus, there is clear momentum toward revitalisation and new programming. This transition signals not just an operational change, but a commitment to reimagining what the campus can offer to students and families while respecting what made Institut Monte Rosa special in the first place. Eastwood is a next-generation international day and boarding school that blends world-class academics with real-world creation, guided by expert educators, entrepreneurs and artists. Its curriculum emphasises not only foundational knowledge through IB and American Diploma pathways, but also purpose-driven development, where success is measured by what students build, solve and create, rather than just by grades. Afternoons and project time focus on six IMPACT strands—such as imagination, character, technology and leadership—designed to turn learning into action and nurture curious, resilient, globally minded young people ready for the challenges of tomorrow.

Why Montreux is the perfect setting
Montreux is known internationally for its beauty, safety, and cultural richness. Hosting the program here creates a unique atmosphere: students learn in a global environment, surrounded by nature and a community that feels both welcoming and inspiring. It’s the kind of place where friendships form quickly and where personal growth feels natural.
